This weekend marked my 27 years of service to BGL – and what a journey it has been!

As we move into 2024 and beyond, I am truly honoured to be able to share with you our vision and commitment to you.

Before doing this, I want to express my gratitude for your support and belief in us as an organisation. Your trust and commitment to stand with us over the past three decades is something I do not take for granted. I am very humbled and I honour you for this. You have been foundational and at the same time, inspirational in helping us build the BGL of today.

I am particularly excited to present our WHY for 2024 and beyond.

Simple Fund 360 and Simple Invest 360 Product Update – 1 February 2024

Documents and Workflow
Leverage BGL’s new generative AI technology and integrated Workflow module to automate job creation directly from the Documents screen! This feature works for any document with the AI suggesting the appropriate tasks. Learn More

BGL SmartDocs Email
When an email is received by BGL SmartDocs, its AI technology will evaluate if the email content can be used as accounting documentation, triggering accounting tasks, administration or other workplace-specific activities. If the content meets the criteria, the email is automatically converted to PDF and stored in the Document screen of the specific fund or entity. These PDF emails can also be attached in the Workpapers screen. Learn More

Audit Management screen
Track SMSF audits from start to finish with the new Audit Management screen. Update the audit status and store all documents manually or automatically allowing users to integrate with audit partners and other platforms. Once an audit is complete, easily update the annual return from the same screen. Learn More
This feature is exclusively available in Simple Fund 360. 

Workpapers
Save time reconciling 85000 Tax Payable accounts with the new income tax reconciliation table. This feature will automatically populate the current year’s tax payable/refundable and instalment amounts, requiring only manual entry for adjustments to calculate the closing balance. Learn More
This feature is exclusively available in Simple Fund 360.

Workpapers
External document URLs (e.g., Sharepoint, OneDrive, FYI Docs, Dropbox, or Google Drive links) can now be attached in the Working Paper Detail section and Supporting Documents. Users can now also adjust the document order for Working Paper Details and Supporting Documents. Learn More

Workpapers
To view the list of transactions for each account for a Workpaper, the current year transactions can now be viewed within the Workpapers screen. Clicking on a transaction will open the entry in the Transaction screen. Learn More

Pension Commutation Wizard
Transactions posted using the Pension Commutation Wizard now clearly indicate whether they are partial or full commutations. This feature is exclusively available in Simple Fund 360. Learn More

Corporate Actions
10 mergers have been added to Corporate Actions. A warning message will now also be displayed if there is a future disposal or CGT event. Learn More

Reports
The Operating Statement now has the option to combine property expenses. Learn More

User Roles
The user role “Import data from Governing Body” is now available in user permissions. This enables administrators to limit the import of RA72 company data from ASIC. Learn More

Company Subclass
When a Company Type is Public and Company Class is Limited by Shares, the dropdown of Company Subclass in the General Details tab will now provide the following options:

  • Listed
  • Unlisted
  • Unlisted Superannuation Trustee Company
  • Unlisted Non-Profit Company 
  • Section 150 license
  • Section 383 License (note: this option should only appear if the Incorporation Date is on or before 30/06/1998)
  • Section 383 License Superannuation Trustee Company (note: this option should only appear if the Incorporation Date is on or before 30/06/1998)

The dropdown of Company Subclass in the Comparison Report screen has also been updated to display the same set of options as mentioned above. Learn More

BGL Office Hours: Australia Day

The BGL Melbourne Office (HQ) will be closed on Friday, 26 January 2024 for the Australia Day Public Holiday. No live software support services will be available on this day.

For BGL cloud software clients, you can find help in the Resources Hub. For BGL Desktop software clients, the BGL Client Centre and BGL Wiki will be available for you as usual.

CAS 360 Product Update – 18 January 2024

What's New?

BGLiD Request Multiple ID Sources
BGLiD now provides the ability to have two different forms of ID for verification. This option adds a third ID method (Medicare card) in addition to driver’s licence and passport. Please note the Medicare card is only available when two verification sources are required. Learn More

BGLiD Automatic Re-Try
In the event of a failed ID verification attempt by a client, BGLiD will automatically email the contact notifying them of the unsuccessful verification and request they retry (at no additional cost). Learn More

BGLiD Email Reminders
Automated email reminders can be sent up to 7 days after initiating an ID request. This feature is optional and can be selected when sending a BGLiD request. Learn More

BGLiD Email Confirmations
After successful ID verification, automated email confirmations can be sent to the contact and the requester. This feature is optional and can be selected when sending a BGLiD request. Learn More

BGLiD Preferred ID Source
A new dropdown list has been added to the Verify Identity screen providing the ability to select the preferred ID source if multiple ID types are linked to a contact. Learn More

Annual Return Validations
When a company is missing an ACN in CAS 360, the annual reports document production screen will now display a validation error message and prevent all download and send actions. Learn More

Member Register
The Register of Members has been added to Document Production for all shareholder transaction changes for other jurisdictions. Learn More

Report Improvements
The Company Listing, Compliance Status Listing and Director ID reports now display all partners and managers in the report when the company has multiple partners/managers. Learn More
