At BGL, we genuinely believe that without the right people – we wouldn’t be where we are today. So, we thought it was time to introduce you-all to the BGL Team! Meet BGL superstar and Client Success Specialist, Jess Oaten!!
Jess has been a BGLer for an incredible 8 years 
and is an essential part of the Client Success team!
What was your first job at BGL?
I started at BGL in the Administration Team as a Casual Admin Assistant at 19 years old while studying; completing jobs such as data entry, scanning, shredding, creating client packs and answering phones.
I moved into the Data Services Team casually and became a full-time employee at BGL in 2015.
In 2017, I moved into the Client Success Team in my current role as a Client Success Specialist. My role involves enabling clients to achieve a seamless transition to either Simple Fund 360 or CAS 360, whether they are coming from our desktop products or a previous software provider. My day involves reaching out to new clients, assisting with the migration/conversion to our cloud products, managing our BGL Conversion Team and working closely with the Development, Sales/AM and Support Teams.
What three words would you use to describe BGL’s culture?
Innovative, rewarding and friendly.
Which BGL clubs are you a member of?
I am loving the yoga and mindfulness sessions that have recently been introduced! 
What do you enjoy most about working at BGL?
I love that I get to challenge myself every day and there is always something new to learn – from product knowledge, industry knowledge to the innovation of new processes and personal development. There is no limit to the opportunities at BGL.
What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of?
I am really proud of how far I have come at BGL. I started as an Admin Assistant who knew nothing about the world of software or accounting, I still remember dreading answering the phones in Admin! To see where I am at now with my knowledge, experience and confidence – I am proud of my hard work and I love that I get to continue to grow and build on this every day.
What’s the coolest thing about your job?
The coolest thing about my job is the people I get to meet and work with every day – some who I have made life-long friendships with 
Do you have a favourite charity you wish more people knew about?
Maddie’s Vision and Australian Red Cross Lifeblood are very close to my heart.
My best friend passed away after a 2-year battle with Leukemia in 2018 and worked closely with both these organisations. Maddie’s Vision focus is to fund the urgent needs in medical research for Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome. BGL is also a great supporter for work colleagues who wish to donate blood. What new hobby or habit have you taken up while in self-isolation?
Puzzles! My housemates and I have completed 4 x 1000-piece puzzles and onto our 5th at the moment 
What show are you currently binge-watching?
I am currently binge-watching The Office for the 3rd time; it is my favourite and I could watch that show over and over. And who hasn’t been watching Tiger King… 
What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
Surprisingly enough, I can water-ski and have spent most of my summers doing so!
Are you a coffee or tea person?
I have only recently become a tea person! During isolation I have been loving a Green Tea during the workday and a Chamomile Tea to wind down at night
