I have had the pleasure of working with Canio and his partner Michele from Muscillo Romano for the past 5 years.
Their story and journey has been an interesting one.
I recall first stepping into their office located at Stones Corner. Upon entering their offices, I couldn’t help but notice the artifacts which pointed to a love of Italy. Something very near to my heart. The distinct smell of espresso coffee and fresh biscuits made me feel as though I was stepping into a small boutique deli somewhere in Sicily. In the foyer, I was greeted by a very welcoming lady who made me feel as though I was an instant member of the Muscillo Romano family. A feeling that to this day I still recall and retell many a time over. She told me to take a seat and wait a few minutes for the meeting to start.
Then enter Canio and Michele. Their hospitality and welcome completely aligned to the feel for the culture that I experienced when I first walked in. We made our way into the meeting room and I was invited to take a seat and make myself comfortable. The conversation started with first things first. Coffee! Daniel, how do you like your espresso? Back then, short with 2 sugars. Moments after, the coffee arrived with an amazing arrangement of homemade biscuits and other treats. Our meeting could then start.
The first hour of the meeting was talking about Italy, food, culture and business. In that order. What I came to understand and discover was that I was sitting in the room with 2 accountants who are unique, funny, lovable and extremely intelligent. The language used made clear the importance they placed on customer service, engagement and success. They demonstrated an amazing level of competency and understanding that positioned them as a true and trusted adviser and most importantly friend to their clients.
The initial purpose of the meeting was to talk technology and we eventually got around to it. Canio and Michele were looking for a technology partner to help them better service their clients in the areas of SMSF and Company Compliance. This is where BGL was able to step in and help them make the right technology decision. Muscillo Romano made the decision to go with BGL Simple Fund 360 and CAS 360. Instead of me telling you why, I have included Canio’s reason as to why because he articulates it far better than I ever could.
“With a large SMSF administration client base and delivering the very best advice and quality services to our clients paramount to our success, we found that competing with other offerings was getting harder and harder by the year. As a great deal of this was due to our very manual and antiquated old accounting software we decided that rather than reducing the labour rate (ie using less skilled labour) we would seek to upgrade our software partner. After speaking to other suppliers and testing software in-house, the unanimous decision was to move to BGL. We see BGL as much more than our software provider. They are truly a partner and went the extra mile to understand how our practice works, where we came from and where we wanted to take our clients. The transition was seamless and by using the software we have been able to uphold the top quality service whilst passing on efficiency gains to our clients. Thank you to all in the BGL team”, said Canio.
As a result of their hard work and commitment to best practice and customer service, last year they took out the SMSF Advisor – Queensland Accounting Firm of The Year award. And rightly so. I am glad we were able to play a small part in this amazing journey and achievement.
If you are looking for great SMSF and Company Compliance Software, quality outcomes, service and relationship, BGL is here to help.
